Sanur's offshore reef breaks the swell long before it reaches the sand, so the lagoon is glassy at any tide. It's the only stretch of the south coast where small children can swim without an adult holding them, and the only one where grandparents in their seventies do their morning laps.
Most villas are a five-minute walk from a quiet entry — Sindhu, Mertasari, Karang. The boardwalk that runs the length of Sanur lets you walk or cycle from one to the next.
Sanur is one of the few Bali coasts that faces east, which means sunrise — not sunset — is the moment. By five AM the painted jukung outriggers are pulled out to the reef; by six the sky is doing thirty seconds of pink and the boats are silhouettes. Local fishermen come back with the night's catch around seven, and the cafés on the boardwalk open at eight.
Most of our Sanur guests skip the lie-in for the first three mornings, then sleep in the rest of the week. It's that good.
Sanur is the launch port for the fast boats to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida — 30-minute crossings, hourly from 8 AM. The pier is at the southern end of Sanur and most of our Sanur guests do at least one day-trip to Penida (the Kelingking viewpoint, an early morning at Crystal Bay).
We arrange the boat, the driver on the other side, and the lunch table without you having to think about logistics.
