Polished Canggu — beach clubs, gyms, the new cafés

Berawa is the polished end of Canggu: Finns Beach Club and Atlas within walking distance of many villas, paved roads, and gyms that would not look out of place in London. For the quieter, rice-field side of the same coast, look at Pererenan, on Canggu's north-western edge.

Walking to Finns by sunset

Many Berawa villas are a short walk from Finns Beach Club — through the gates, along Pantai Berawa, past the rice paddy that survived the development. Book ahead for a cabana at sunset.

Atlas is louder. The day pool reads more Ibiza than Bali. Both have their hour. Most Berawa guests do Finns for the long lunch, Atlas for the night.

Gyms, cafés, the things you didn't know you wanted

Berawa has become Canggu's wellness quarter: gyms, the new pilates studios on Jalan Pantai Berawa, ice baths on the rooftops. The cafés to go with: Coffee Cartel, Crate, Penny Lane, Milk & Madu — the morning order takes a minute to make and a minute to drink.

It's the Bali that exists if you ask the algorithm for Bali. Some travellers love it; some find it polished beyond recognition. Read the room.

Is Berawa walking distance to Finns Beach Club?
From many Berawa villas, yes: the walk is along Pantai Berawa, through one or two beach gates. From others it is a few minutes by car, so ask us for the walking time from the house you have in mind.
How is Berawa different from Echo Beach or Pererenan?
Berawa: polished, beach-club walking distance, paved roads, higher density. Echo Beach (central Canggu): the original surf scene, more cafés, more crowded. Pererenan (Canggu's north-western edge): quieter, rice paddies, the new restaurant row (see our villas in Pererenan). All three are Canggu; pick by mood.
Is Berawa good for families?
Yes. Many of the larger Berawa villas come with staff, the beach is wide, and the beach clubs welcome children at lunch. At sunset, take the children back to the villa and let the adults walk over.
Which Berawa villa is best for a wedding?
It depends on the headcount. Wedding permissions, guest limits and noise rules differ from villa to villa, so tell us the number of guests and the date and we will ask the owner before anything is booked.
