The cliffs you have seen in every feed — and the cove beneath them no one mentions.

Kelingking is the most photographed coastline in Indonesia. It is also, on most days, the most crowded. The trick is Crystal Bay — an hour west, a different vocabulary.

Arrive at 7am. Leave by 10. By 11 the tourists have found it, and by 2 it is just a beach. Before then, it is the only place in Indonesia.

Every famous beach has a quieter sibling, twenty minutes further on.
